Recycling
Why is recycling important? Well, it is estimated that landfill void space will run out between 20-30 years...a long way off? Well, not really. By landfilling too much of our waste we polluting the environment for generations to come and this is a serious matter. Although Landfill's are now highly engineered sites that come under massive legislative scrutiny, it is our responsibility to safeguard the environment for the generations to come. Thankfully, Simply Waste Solutions are here to help. Not only can we audit your site to identify what might be recycled but we can introduce a collection infrastructure to help achieve maximum recycling. Of course we realise that cost is an issue, so we try to help you decide the best course of action. In some cases, recycling your waste will have a positive effect and actually make you money!
Landfill Tax
In 1996 the government introduced the Landfill Tax levy. Set originally at £7 per tonne is has steadily risen to £21 per tonne and the government has indicated that this will rise by at least £3 per year for the foreseeable future. As a result, those companies that do not do any recycling will see their waste removal costs escalate to levels far in excess of inflation. Consider that our tax on landfill is still significantly less than our friends on the continent and it is our governments aim to become more aligned with what they are used to paying, encouraging more people to recycle and therefore divert waste from landfill.
